VOLVO CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT FINISHES FIRST YEAR DELIVERIES TO IRAQ UNDER 2-YEAR U.S. ARMY TACOM CONTRACT
Alexandria, VA – April 15, 2005. Volvo Construction Equipment North America, Asheville, North Carolina, has just completed the first year’s delivery of over 100 pieces of construction equipment to the Iraqi civil ministries under high priority contract awards totaling $30M. These contracts were awarded to Volvo by the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Armament Command (TACOM), Warren, Michigan, during the period April – June 2004. Volvo responded to four TACOM solicitations for wheel loaders (120 each), motor graders (54 each), hydraulic excavators (28 each) and backhoes, with very demanding early delivery requirements. Volvo won all four contracts it bid and started deliveries to Iraq within 60 days of contract award.
GMD Solutions, Inc., has served as a U.S. Government Marketing representative for Volvo Construction Equipment for the past three years and was responsible for organizing and writing all four winning proposals to TACOM. In addition, GMD Solutions prepared the Small Business Subcontracting Plans to accompany the offers to TACOM and has continued to support a number of contract administration functions to assure timely delivery of the equipment to the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr.
